Hope of Glory
Prophecy of a Shaking, a Rattling
and a Trembling
Chapter 12 Page 1
In Ezekiel's vision of the dry bones, the bones came together, bone to its bone, but before that could happen, there was a thundering noise; God broke His silence, and behold there was a shaking and trembling and a rattling. So before the Body of Christ pulls together bone to bone, there will be a shaking, and a trembling, and a rattling.
1THE HAND of the Lord was upon me, and He brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones.
2And He caused me to pass round about among them, and behold, there were very many [human bones] in the open valley or plain, and behold, they were very dry.
3And He said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, You know!
4Again He said to me, Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O you dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.
5Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath and spirit to enter you, and you shall live;
6And I will lay sinews upon you and bring up flesh upon you and cover you with skin, and I will put breath and spirit in you, and you [dry bones] shall live; and you shall know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord [the Sovereign Ruler, Who calls forth loyalty and obedient service].
7So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a [thundering] noise and behold, a shaking and trembling and a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone.
8And I looked and behold, there were sinews upon [the bones] and flesh came upon them and skin covered them over, but there was no breath or spirit in them.
9Then said He to me, Prophesy to the breath and spirit, son of man, and say to the breath and spirit, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath and spirit, and breathe upon these slain that they may live.
10So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath and spirit came into [the bones], and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceedingly great host.
11Then He said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, Our bones are dried up and our hope is lost; we are completely cut off.
12Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, O My people; and I will bring you [back home] to the land of Israel.
The hand of the Lord was upon me, and I saw the fingers of a man's hand writing on the wall of a great church,
3Then they brought in the gold and silver vessels which had been taken out of the temple, the house of God which was in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them.
4They drank wine and praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone.
5Immediately and suddenly there appeared the fingers of a man's hand and wrote on the plaster of the wall opposite the candlestick [so exposed especially to the light] in the king's palace, and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
6Then the color and the [drunken] hilarious brightness of the king's face was changed, and his [terrifying] thoughts troubled and alarmed him; the joints and muscles of his hips and back gave way and his knees smote together.
And the hand wrote, "A SHAKING, a RATTLING and a TREMBLING."
Then the bones came together, bone came to bone, and flesh came upon the bones and skin covered the flesh.
An exceedingly great host arose!
10So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath and spirit came into [the bones], and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceedingly great host.
And I saw an end-time harvest of every nation and tribe, of every color and race, and of every age! The stars of the sky dropped to the earth to be gathered, they dropped like a fig tree shedding its unripe fruit out of season, when shaken by a strong wind; they dropped suddenly and all at once, and because they were figs, they were gathered.
10They cried in a loud voice, O [Sovereign] Lord, holy and true, how long now before You will sit in judgment and avenge our blood upon those who dwell on the earth?
11Then they were each given a long and flowing and festive white robe and told to rest and wait patiently a little while longer, until the number should be complete of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
12When He [the Lamb] broke open the sixth seal, I looked, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun grew black as sackcloth of hair, [the full disc of] the moon became like blood.
13And the stars of the sky dropped to the earth like a fig tree shedding its unripe fruit out of season when shaken by a strong wind.
14And the sky rolled up like a scroll and vanished, and every mountain and island was dislodged from its place.
15Then the kings of the earth and their noblemen and their magnates and their military chiefs and the wealthy and the strong and [everyone, whether] slave or free hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains,
